‘Working ideas’

In 2003 Maarten and Jetty Min started with ATLJ Min2 and the laboratory for building and living takes its first form.

After years of building, the need to make objects based on one’s own concepts has grown and ATLJ Min2 now has become an important part of Min2’s work.

During time a lot concepts and objects have been developed especially for presentations of special projects and the many exhibitions. In 2014 and 2016 they worked on exhibitions for the Architecture Biennale in Venice and new concepts of living performed by beautiful objects were made with the help of the trainees.

Sketchbook

It all started with the sketchbooks of Maarten Min. Freely associating, he drew his thoughts on architecture and urban planning. Many of these ideas have been further developed and implemented into real plans.

Autobiography

Lessons for Young Architects. For six summers, Maarten Min drew for the comic book Auto-biografie, published in 2009.

A mildly ironic insight into the company and the world of architecture. After this, the comic book was self-published.

Concepts, materials and products

While Maarten is sketching and exploring, Jetty tries to find the essence of the assignments by making a model or a painting.

As a visual artist/designer, Jetty is also searching for the right materials and structures. She looks for and develops specific appearances to apply them in the projects. The development of the Cover for the Dune House started in the ATLJ in collaboration with Petersen Tegl and is now used in many buildings all over the world. The NatuBrick is a personal elaboration of the Click Brick and is used in the project Starting@home in Akersloot. A start has been made with the design of a green façade, in which the façade also gives a beautiful image if it is not fully grown.

Housing concepts

For Jetty, thinking about living in terms of need and experience is a subject for the studio. Instead of just the building decree as a starting point, she designs art- and living objects. In the Corona period she developed a series of iconic houses, like a city house, fisherman’s house or a tree house. The majority has also been built.
